Charlotte Small Business Saturday Guide

When you support a small business, you’re supporting a person in your community with a dream, plus you’ll probably end up with something a little more unique than what you can find at larger retailers.

Honestly, buying from small businesses might be a bit more pricey than buying from big corporations. But that’s for a couple reasons: 1. local vendors have the ability to responsibly source quality materials, and 2. are often true, skilled artists and craftsmen, or someone with a good idea and a dream—how special is that?

Shopping local also helps cut down on the waste and overconsumption that occurs during Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend (more on that here). Good for the environment, good for your community, what's not to love?

So! We put together a guide of holiday markets to help you shop small (and local) this Small Business Saturday.

1) Lokãl by hygge

When: 11-7 on Saturday 11/27

Where: Lokal by hygge in Camp North End

First off, it’s pronounced “lo-kay.” And how about it’s a really cool retail collective in Camp North End that acts as a space for other small businesses to sell their products. So far they’ve got @thatsnovelbooks, @scarfandblazer, @feministgoodsco, @partyperfected, @mossickco, @findbigfootkick, @lushboutiquenc, @dave_haswingz, @quadespressojewelry, @calvinscraft_ @limoncitogoods and @campnorthend

Their grand opening is this Saturday 11/27 for Small Business Saturday and they will be open from 11-7.

2) HandCraftedMarket CLT

When: 12-6 on Saturday 11/27

Where: Petty Thieves Brewing

You can keep up with their pop-up markets on the reg, but this Saturday 11/27, they’ll be at @pettythievesbrewing from 12-6 pm.

3) Shop Small Saturday - Camden Road Street Festival

When: 11-4 on Saturday 11/27

Where: Camden Road in South End near Blaze Pizza

Esther & Elsa retail, the brand behind Front Porch Sunday and Nebel's Alley Night Market, is partnering with South End Clt to host a handful of markets in South End this holiday season. The holiday market season will kick off on 11/27 with Shop Small Saturday on Camden Road in South End from 11-4pm

4) Small Business Saturday at Charlotte Collective

When: 10-6 on Saturday 11/27

Where: Charlotte Collective in South End

Charlotte Collective is an alternative retail shop nestled in Plaza Midwood and South End that proudly showcases local makers and creatives from the Queen City. At their South End location on Saturday, they'll be serving mimosas for all shoppers and some tasty treats from local bakeries from 10-12. This year, they're adding a stocking stuffer bar and of course, the best small businesses in Charlotte for you to get your holiday shopping done all in one place! Charlotte Collective is open from 10-6pm on Saturday 11/27.

5) Small Business Saturday at Summit Seltzer

Summit Seltzer will be hosting a market this Saturday 11/27 with a handful of local vendors. Learn more via the event page here.

Happy shopping ponies :)
